JCoSS · New Barnet, London
As a voluntary-aided school of 1,400 students, including a thriving Sixth Form of around 400 students, JCoSS is a highly regarded, oversubscribed faith school at the heart of our London community. Our students achieve excellent academic outcomes, with almost 50% of all GCSE grades at 7+ and nearly 50% of all A Level grades at A or A*. Alongside a broad and ambitious A Level offer, we are proud to provide a wide range of vocational pathways, ensuring that every student can pursue excellence in a way that reflects their talents and aspirations. While we celebrate our academic success, we are clear that grades alone do not define an outstanding education. At JCoSS, we are committed to developing open-minded, thoughtful young people - mensches - who do the right thing even when nobody is watching. We want our graduates to navigate a changing world with integrity and compassion, able to contribute positively and meaningfully to their and the wider community. As the current postholder is moving abroad , we are currently seeking a P.E. Teacher to join our school, who is an exceptional classroom practitioner and passionate advocate for the subject, with the drive and expertise to develop our students’ creative and technical capabilities. We are seeking a well-organised, energetic, and committed professional to support the continued development of PE/Dance and Academic PE within our well-established, forward-thinking department, which is focused on ongoing growth and excellence. The department has rapidly established itself as a leading sports provider within Barnet, achieving strong extra-curricular success at district and county level, as well as within the Jewish community. We are fortunate to have a student body rich in both talent and potential, including a number of high-performing national athletes across a range of sports, supported by highly engaged parents. We are also proud of our excellent sporting facilities, which include a full-size sports hall, activity studio, MUGA, 4G astroturf pitch, and extensive playing fields. All students participate in PE throughout Key Stages 3 and 4, while Sixth Form students engage in a variety of informal sporting opportunities. Academic PE is well-subscribed, with successful GCSE PE provision at Key Stage 4, as well as A Level PE and Level 3 Sports Leadership at Key Stage 5. In 2025, our GCSE PE results placed us in the top 6% nationally, with A Level results placing us in the top 1% nationally, reflecting the strength of both teaching and student achievement. The department is also committed to providing outstanding enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom. This includes regular sports tours, participation in events such as Disneyland Netball, and a strong desire to further expand and develop our programme of sporting experiences to ensure students have access to a wide range of opportunities. The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner in both practical and theoretical PE, with
