Millthorpe School is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated
individual to join our team as an Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
Learning Mentor, who will liaise with students, families and staff to remove
any significant barriers to attending school, and will work with Pastoral and
SEN leaders to improve the attendance of identified pupils. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, families, and other professionals and external
agencies to understand and address barriers to school attendance. You will
implement strategies and interventions that promote inclusion, improve
attendance, and ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and ready to
learn. You must have experience of working with
children and young people with SEND and/or challenging behaviours, with the
ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and employ
strategies which promote good attendance. You will have maths and English at
grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications, with a further qualification
or training related to working with children and young people with additional
needs. The trust will be undertaking a job evaluation
exercise in the near future and, therefore, the grade for this position may
