Grade 13 | Full Time | Permanent | Full Year Cumbria Education Trust is seeking to appoint an experienced and forward‑thinking IT Technical Manager to play a key role in shaping and delivering our Trust‑wide technology infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at a time of continued growth and transformation, where digital infrastructure is central to supporting high‑quality education and operational excellence across our schools. About the Role Reporting to the Head of IT Services, you will act as the Trust’s senior technical specialist, leading on the design, delivery and continuous improvement of core IT infrastructure and services across a multi‑site environment. You will: Lead the design and operation of secure, resilient and scalable IT systems, spanning on‑premise and cloud platforms Take ownership of complex infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades and service improvements Manage and optimise Active Directory, identity services and Windows Server environments Drive cyber security, performance, and system resilience, ensuring best practice and compliance Provide expert technical advice to senior stakeholders and contribute to wider service planning A key focus of this role will be supporting the Trust’s growth by: Onboarding new schools onto Trust platforms Integrating and standardising technologies across sites Ensuring systems are scalable and aligned to long‑term strategy About You We are looking for an experienced IT professional who: Has significant experience in a senior technical infrastructure role, ideally across complex or multi‑site environments Brings strong expertise in networks, servers, cloud, security and identity management Has a proven track record of delivering large‑scale technical projects and transformation Is a confident problem‑solver, able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues Can lead, influence and collaborate effectively across technical and non‑technical stakeholders A background in education or public sector environments would be advantageous.
