About the role

Teacher (SEMH/SEND) Working across the William Henry Smith School & Sixth Form and William Henry Smith Specialist College Purpose of the Job:   To deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching to learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role focuses primarily on teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), while contributing more broadly to a flexible, cross-curricular offer that supports learners’ academic, personal and vocational development.   The postholder will embody the Foundation’s core values of community, collaboration, integrity, compassion, and visionary thinking, ensuring these are reflected in all aspects of teaching, learning, and professional practice. Key Responsibilities: ·Plan and deliver differentiated lessons in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) that meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.  Build positive, trusting relationships with learners, demonstrating compassion and consistency to support engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing  Contribute to the development of a flexible and relevant curriculum that reflects visionary thinking and responds to the evolving needs of learners. Support SEMH children and young adults through trauma-informed, relationship-based and therapeutic practice Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies Contribute to enrichment activities, educational visits and residential experiences Promote the Foundation's values of Visionary Thinking, Compassionate Curiosity, Unwavering Integrity, Empowering Community, and Close Collaboration  Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students at all times, acting with professionalism and integrity. We are looking for someone who: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), currently training towards QTS, or committed to undertake a recognised teacher training programme. Has a strong understanding of SEMH needs and inclusive practice Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all learners Builds strong, positive relationships with children and young adults, staff and families Demonstrates creativity, resilience and adaptability Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults Embraces a rights-respecting, child-centred and wellbeing-focused ethos  APPLICATION INFORMATION: Visits to the William Henry Smith Foundation are highly recommended prior to making an application.
