About the role

Malmesbury Park Primary Academy, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Riggs SEN Class Teacher to join the School in September 2026. Post: Riggs SEN Class Teacher Location: Malmesbury Park Primary Academy, Lowther Road, Bournemouth, BH8 8LU FTE Salary Range: MPS 1 - UPS 3 + SEN Min, £32,916 - £51,047 + £2,787 Contract Type: Permanent, full-time Contract Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday About the role This is a class-based position working with children across the primary age range from EYFS to Year 6. The key purpose of the role will be to undertake the planning, teaching and assessment for the children in the Riggs Unit. You will need to be an excellent class teacher with a passion for learning and experience working with children with SEND (particularly ASD, SEMH and challenging behaviour). This is not suitable for an ECT. As a member of teaching staff at Malmesbury Park Primary School, you’ll be working in a team of like-minded individuals who all want the best for the learners in our school. You will be responsible for planning and delivering the curriculum in order to meet the needs of the children in your class. You will have good interpersonal skills, a range of behaviour management strategies and a desire to want the best for all children. About the successful candidate The ideal candidate will be hard working, friendly and outgoing. You will have an enthusiasm for working with children. You will have experience and a talent for engaging with children, encouraging social interaction, developing independence, self esteem and encouraging all individuals to achieve their goals. You will have the SENDCO qualification or be prepared to work towards this. We are looking for a teacher and ideally with experience of teaching in KS1/KS2. This role is not suitable for an ECT or NQT. As a school we require all teachers to hold qualified teacher status. About the School Malmesbury Park is a large, popular and inclusive school in central Bournemouth. We are a three-form entry school with 695 children on roll with large waiting lists in each year group. There is a thriving Nursery which accommodates 62 children on a fully flexible basis. The percentage of pupils eligible for free school meals (FSM) is 20.2% and the percentage eligible for Pupil Premium funding is 19.5%. The percentage of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is 23.4% (18.1% SEN Support and 5.3% EHCP) and the percentage of children with English as an Additional Language is 53%. The school has 72% stability due to the locality of the school between Bournemouth University, the Arts University and the hospital. Academic outcomes are not significantly different to national in all aspects. Malmesbury Park Primary School’s last OFSTED inspection was in March 2022 and the school was graded as Good.
