We are looking for an exceptional Biology teacher to collaborate with our team in elevating student attainment and achievement levels within the department. The ideal candidate should possess a strong passion for science, along with excellent subject knowledge, to motivate students towards embracing STEM subjects and exploring related career opportunities. The ability to teach Biology to KS5 is preferred, however it is essential to have the capability to teach all sciences up to KS4 and demonstrate effective classroom management skills. The science faculty comprises 10 fully equipped labs and a classroom, with each teacher assigned to their lab. There are also 2 office spaces and a fully equipped kitchen dedicated to the science faculty. Science is taught as separate subjects from KS3 to KS4, primarily by subject-specific teachers. Teachers have access to a shared drive containing lesson resources and teaching timelines managed by Heads of Departments. The Lead Practitioner collaborates with science teachers to identify and support underperforming students. New teachers receive mentorship within the faculty to aid in their integration. Our school hosts a highly successful STEM club and engages in Science challenge activities for high-achieving students. We are a fully inclusive school that is dedicated to both supporting and challenging all members of our diverse community and to develop the potential in all our students, no matter what their starting point. Pastoral care is also of the highest importance and we are committed to providing the best possible learning environment to develop confident, independent learners. We provide an ambitious and broad curriculum and ensure that students have opportunities outside the classroom to develop and inspire them, including a wide range of extracurricular activities. Working with us: In addition to the staff benefits offered by Wandle Learning Trust, we have a health cash plan with Simply Health and staff wellbeing programme which includes a staff reward scheme, staff yoga and regular social activities. We are located in the North of the borough with excellent transport links to London and the surrounding areas. We follow STPCD and support staff can join the LGPS. ECTβs follow an established induction programme while more experienced staff are able to join our leadership training programmes. Many among our teaching staff enrol in our school-based MA programme run in conjunction with St Mary's University. The school is a member of PiXL.
