Assistant SENDCO HLTA Salary: Grade 8, point 19-24 Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Mon-Thurs 08:30-16:30 and Fr 08:30-16:00 We are looking for an enthusiastic person who would like to join our friendly and hardworking team as an Assistant SENDCO HLTA. This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and experienced teaching assistant who is able to; plan and deliver practical support, advice and guidance to vulnerable children and their families; to support pupils’ academic, therapeutic, and pastoral needs, and overseeing key administrative duties. You will be working under the direction of the SENDCO to: Plan and deliver practical support, advice and guidance to vulnerable children and their families. Support pupils' academic, therapeutic and pastoral needs. Ensure the welfare of children attending the school, particularly focusing on children with SENDV. Oversee the SEN register, providing support for children with SEND. Lead valuable training sessions for support staff to raise awareness of SEND and current practices. Manage the deployment of teaching assistants and student groupings for interventions. Provide learning support in class and deliver 1:1 interventions for SEND students. The ideal candidate: Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. Sound grasp of the concept of inclusive practice. Capable of planning intervention work, assessing the needs and achievements of children and maintaining appropriate records. Skilled at making and sustaining positive relationships with children. Confident, resilient, patient and wants to support our pupils to become resilient, independent learners. Demonstrates excellent classroom practice with high standards of teaching and learning. Experience supporting SEND children in a classroom environment. Qualified to NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants/HLTA qualification or equivalent or is willing to work towards this qualification. Team player who is willing to contribute to the ethos and wider community of the academy. Is motivated, passionate, and reflective about their work. Demonstrates an understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues.
