Job Title: Cyber Security Technician

Actual Annual Salary: £28,859 - £31,111 (CLF Grade C) Based on hours and working weeks

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, All year-round

Additional role info: The primary location for this role is Digitech Studio School in Bristol, with regular travel to other academies as needed. Outside of these on-site responsibilities, the role offers flexibility to work remotely, supporting a balanced and adaptable working arrangement.

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Cyber Security Technician to join the central IT team at Cabot Learning Federation. In this important role, you will help protect the Trust’s digital environment by implementing security measures, monitoring systems, and supporting colleagues to work safely and confidently across all our academies.

Working as part of the CLF Central ICT Operations team, you will collaborate closely with the Cyber Security Officer and wider ICT staff to maintain a resilient, secure, and compliant IT estate. This role offers the chance to contribute to trust‑wide improvements, respond to security incidents, and support ongoing projects that enhance the safeguarding of our digital infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring that technology continues to underpin high‑quality teaching, learning, and operational excellence across the Federation.

About you

You will have:

Good literacy and numeracy skills, including GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications.

Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 IT or Cyber Security qualification, or certifications like CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Security Fundamentals, with a willingness to continue professional development.

A solid understanding of core cyber security principles, including basic networking, operating systems, Active Directory, and endpoint protection tools.

Experience working within an IT support environment, with the ability to monitor alerts, follow escalation procedures, and assist with routine security incidents.

Familiarity with hardware diagnostics, patching, switches, anti‑malware tools, virtualisation technologies, and Microsoft Server environments.

Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to support users, explain technical information clearly, and help promote cyber‑secure working habits across the Trust.

A proactive, adaptable mindset, able to manage a busy workload, respond to changing priorities, and remain calm under pressure.
