CASUAL LEVEL 1 TEACHING ASSISTANT FREDERICK HOLMES SCHOOL Grade & Scale point: 3 Salary: £25,185 FTE, £13.05 - £13.26/hr Hours of work: Casual, up to 33 hours per week Contract: Casual, Term-time only Start date: ASAP following pre-employment checks We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality education and are seeking to strengthen our support team with a Teaching Assistant Level 1 on a casual basis.
This position is to provide cover for staff absence or sickness; therefore, the successful candidate should be reliable and able to work at short notice.
Many of our pupils have complex medical needs, alongside learning and/or communication difficulties. The role will involve working across the school, supporting pupils on an individual basis and within small groups. The successful applicant will be required to provide a high level of support, helping pupils to access the curriculum as well as assisting with personal care routines where needed. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Attends to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
• Prepares classroom as directed for lessons and clear afterwards and assists with the display of pupils’ work
• Encourages pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
• Supports the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate
• Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Experience in working with or caring for children of relevant age
• Ability to support pupils learning consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
