Selby High School Specialist School for the Arts and Science Β· Selby, Yorkshire and the Humber
Selby High School is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and
experienced leader for the new Targeted Mainstream Provision, which will open
in September, 2026, and which will support students whose main area of need is
Communication and Interaction. This is a
fantastic opportunity for somebody with the right level of skills and
commitment to take their career to the next level, and have a positive impact
on the education and life experiences of young people within the provision.
We are looking for somebody with:
-The passion, energy and independence to lead and run the
Targeted Mainstream Provision;
- Excellent skills, knowledge and experience within
Communication and Interaction, and the desire to develop further in this area;
-Extensive experience of planning and delivering sessions
and interventions to groups of up to 8 students;
-The resilience and compassion to work with young people
with significant additional needs.
-The ability to train and advise other staff within the
organisation.
Our aim is to be a centre of excellence for Communication
and Interaction within the next 5 years, and we are looking for a TMP Lead who
will help us achieve this end.
Selby High School Targeted Mainstream Provision
The Selby High School Targeted Mainstream Provision will be
a base within the school for six students with EHCPs, where the main area of
need is around Communication and Interaction.
There will also be two Assessment Places, for students with similar
needs, who will be assessed for an EHCP whilst in the provision.
Students will have a mixture of timetabled mainstream
lessons, and time in the TMP. In the
TMP, students will have lessons and one-to-one and small group sessions
delivered by the TMP staff and teaching staff.
Some lessons will have a curriculum focus, and others will be based
around social skills, and other life-based skills. Students will have access to cooking
facilities. Where appropriate, students
will also have access to some of our external-based provisions including Drax,
Selby Skills Centre and Noise Academy.
The amount of time spent within the TMP base will be
determined by the studentsβ level of need.
The ultimate aim will be for the majority of students placed at the TMP
to attend most of their mainstream lessons, but it is likely that there will be
students who will need to spend a significant amount of time in the provision.
The provision within the TMP will also be available to
students who are not officially within the TMP, but have needs that would be
well supported by the staff within the TMP.
