Main Tasks
The post holder will be responsible to the
Headteacher, via the Head of Faculty for: Design Technology Faculty
Making an effective contribution, through
the classes allocated, to the teaching commitments of the school in line with
the school’s curriculum policy and departmental requirements. Taking responsibility for the work,
behaviour and progress of pupils in the classes allocated to the teacher, in
line with policies and procedures for the Faculty and the school. Planning, preparing and delivering engaging
and stimulating lessons primarily in Food Technology, with some teaching across
Design Technology as required, ensuring that lessons meet the needs of all
pupils and provide appropriate challenge and support. Participating in the development and
implementation of appropriate Schemes of Work in accordance with Faculty and
school policies for curriculum, assessment and teaching methodology, having
regard to the National Curriculum and examination specifications. Ensuring that pupils are taught in line
with subject Schemes of Work and relevant examination requirements at Key
Stages 3 and 4. Using a variety of teaching and learning
strategies to motivate, engage and inspire pupils, incorporating practical
activities, ICT and specialist resources where appropriate. Assisting in the implementation of
programmes for the assessment of pupils as determined by the Faculty in light
of the requirements of the school and the National Curriculum. To regularly
mark pupils’ work in line with whole school and Faculty expectations. To
participate in the school’s systems for recording and reporting pupils’
achievement and progress. Keeping accurate records of assessment,
attendance, punctuality and behaviour in accordance with school policies and
procedures. Contributing to curriculum development and
teaching and learning initiatives within the Technology Faculty. Sharing responsibility for the security,
safe use and maintenance of specialist equipment, resources, stock and teaching
areas, ensuring Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times,
particularly within Food Technology practical environments. Participating in the school’s agreed
arrangements for appraisal, quality assurance, Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) and professional growth. Liaising with Form Tutors, pastoral staff,
parents/carers and external agencies, where appropriate, in promoting the
interests and welfare of all pupils, including those with Special Educational
Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Attending meetings as required in
connection with the post, including Departmental meetings, Faculty meetings,
Parents’ Evenings, CPD sessions and whole school events. Contributing to the production of reports,
records and statistical information for the Headteacher, Faculty Leader or
