North Star 265 is part of North Star Academy Trust’s specialist provision in North Bristol, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking an experienced and creative KS3 teacher with a background in Design Technology and Art . Working primarily with KS3 pupils taught on a primary-style model, you will play a key role in delivering an engaging, practical and inclusive curriculum that motivates learners and supports their individual needs. Experience of working within an SEMH or SEND setting would be advantageous. The school is expanding and you will join in a year where we will move from our primary model being taught in Secondary to a subject specialism curriculum. You will bring our innovative curriculum to life through hands‑on, project‑based learning, maintaining strong routines while inspiring pupils to explore creativity, develop practical skills and take pride in their achievements. You will be passionate about safeguarding, committed to inclusion, and determined to build positive relationships that support pupils’ social, emotional and academic development. This role offers real scope to shape curriculum delivery, develop pupils’ confidence and resilience, and contribute to a nurturing, collaborative team culture where staff are supported to grow and make a meaningful difference every day. We are looking for a teacher with: The ability to plan and deliver quality Art and Design Technology lessons across the school A good Knowledge of SEMH education and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions / Learning difficulties & other special needs e.g. an understanding of trauma and attachment Experience with the use of assessment data and implementing strategies for raising achievement of pupils with SEMH A commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team to actively promote inclusion and ensure the safeguarding of all pupils Experience of managing HLTAs and/or LSAs in the classroom You will be part of: A dedicated team of staff who strive for excellence A caring and inclusive ethos A school which has supportive trustees and parents with high expectations of the school In return, we offer a competitive salary, pension, a supportive team, training and development and the potential for career progression for the right person.
