About the role

Assistant SENCo (Hospital School) Post: Teacher of Humanities (at least 2 Humanities subjects) Salary: MPS 1-6 dependent on experience Location: Split across various sites: Ida Darwin, Fulbourn, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and all sites from which PPS operates Start Date: September 2026 Hours: Part-time 0.6 Contract: Fixed Term (1 year initially) Reports to: Headteacher This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic teacher to join our team! We wish to appoint an exceptional and experienced humanities teacher to deliver humanities across the school. Pilgrim Pathways School is an outstanding alternative provision for 4-18-year-olds , operating across two hospital sites with five centres:: Darwin Learning Centre - Education for young people (13-17) in a Tier 4 adolescent psychiatric unit. Beacon Learning Centre - Education for young people (12-18) in a specialist eating disorders unit. Home Treatment Team - Community provision supporting students with complex mental health needs to avoid hospitalisation Community Eating Disorders Team - Community provision supporting students with eating disorders to avoid hospitalisation Addenbrooke’s Hospital education team - Education for children and young people (4-18) with physical health conditions We are entering an exciting phase of development as we expand provision for the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital . This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic school delivering excellence in hospital and SEND education. We are looking for someone who: Is ambitious for young people and committed to excellent Humanities teaching. Is passionate about inclusion and supporting students with SEND to achieve ambitious goals. Can teach two humanities subjects (History/ Geography/ RE) Able to teach a core subject (English/ Maths) Able to support non-specialist teachers. Willing to teach primary and secondary students. Understands the holistic nature of education and nurtures individual talents. Is committed to professional development and educational innovation. Has a track record of outstanding practice and creative teaching. Understands mental health and special educational needs. Has excellent communication skills and can inspire and engage learners.
