Assistant SENCo (Hospital School) Post: Assistant Senco Salary: MPS 1-6 pro rata (dependent on experience) Location: Split across various sites: Ida Darwin, Fulbourn, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and all sites from which PPS operates Start Date: September 2026 Hours: Part-time 0.6 Contract: Fixed Term (1 year initially) Reports to: Headteacher An exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to work in an unusual and rewarding setting. We wish to appoint an exceptional SENCo to deliver lessons and support SEND students across the school. About Pilgrim Pathways School Pilgrim Pathways School is an outstanding alternative provision for 4-18-year-olds, operating across two hospital sites and outreach services: Addenbrooke’s Hospital Education Team - education for children and young people (4-18) with physical health conditions. Darwin Learning Centre - education for adolescents (13-17) in a Tier 4 psychiatric unit. The Beacon - education for young people (12-18) in a specialist eating disorders unit. Home Treatment Team - education for students at risk of hospitalisation for mental health, supporting them in the community. Community Eating Disorders Team - education for students at risk of hospitalisation for eating disorders, supporting them in the community. We are currently expanding our provision, including developing education for the new Children’s Hospital and enhancing outreach services. This is an exciting time to join our dynamic and unique school. We seek an individual who Is ambitious for young people and can model excellent teaching and management of SEND students. Can teach maths or English from KS1-3 OR KS2-4 and support colleagues to deliver SEND adaptations. Can work under the SENDCo to support student reintegration into community schools. Can support the strategic development of SEND provision across the school Can ensure that SEND students' progress and attainment are regularly reviewed, and appropriate interventions are implemented. Can ensure all SEND-related documentation, including the SEND Register, Annual Reviews, and Individual Education Plans (IEPs), are up-to-date and in compliance with school policies. Is committed to professional development and educational innovation. Has a track record of outstanding practice and research informed teaching. Understands mental health and special educational needs. Has excellent communication skills and can inspire and engage learners.
