Essential - β’ Grade 8 or above in a primary study instrument
(or demonstrable skill level equivalent to at least Grade 8) β’ Grade 5 music
theory or above β’ Valid driving licence
Desirable - β’ Degree in music β’ Performance diploma β’
Teaching diploma β’ Certificate for Music Educators (CME) β’ Qualified Teacher
Status (QTS) β’ Grade 5 on a second instrument β’ Strong keyboard skills for
those whose first instrument is not the piano

Essential - β’ Teaching a range of ages, from primary to
secondary pupils β’ Teaching a wide range of abilities from complete beginner to
intermediate and advanced pupils β’ Teaching within a school environment β’
Leading and assisting with ensemble activities (choirs, ensembles, performance
opportunities)
Desirable - β’ Teaching pupils in KS4 & 5 β’ Leading
extra-curricular projects involving multiple schools β’ Whole Class
Instrumental/vocal teaching (WCIT) β’ Leading whole school singing (assemblies
etc) β’ Curriculum class teaching β’ Experience creating community links
Skills, Knowledge
Essential - β’ Strong subject knowledge (music theory, music
history, musical instruments) β’ Be able to perform at a high standard, in order
to inspire staff and pupils β’ Be able to sight-read fluently β’ Be able to
accompany (and/or play alongside)
individuals and groups, offering constructive coaching where
required. β’ Promote the Trustβs aims
positively, and use effective strategies to monitor motivation and morale β’ Be
able to develop good personal relationships within a team β’ Establish and
develop good relationships with parents, carers, governors and the community;
