Head of Science

The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for operational and strategic planning within the Science department, leading and developing the department to the highest standards, to raise levels of attainment and pupil progress. Key responsibilities will be: To be

responsible and accountable for operational and strategic planning within the

department. To be

accountable for leading, managing and developing the Department To be

accountable for raising standards of attainment within the Department. To be

accountable for pupil and student progress and development within the

Department. To

ensure high standards of teaching and learning in the Department To be

responsible and accountable for curriculum provision and development within the

Department. To

effectively manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical

resources within the Department to support the designated curriculum portfolio

and in accordance with school policy. To

maintain good order and behaviour according to the school’s policies to

facilitate learning and safeguard the health and safety of pupils and students

both in school and in any authorised school activity outside school. To continue

to build on the success of the department To

implement whole-school, cross-curricular, department policies. To plan, teach

and evaluate the effectiveness of lessons, and sequences of lessons, which show

good knowledge and understanding of a range of up-to-date teaching, learning

and behaviour management strategies, and which are in line with Departmental
