About the role

Main Purpose of the Role Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have the drive, resilience, and leadership skills to shape outstanding pastoral provision? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastoral Key Stage Lead to join our team at Moreton School. This is a pivotal non-teaching role where you will lead the pastoral care and behaviour, and wellbeing provision for a designated Key Stage. Working closely with the Pastoral Lead and Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in ensuring every student feels supported, safe, and able to thrive both academically and personally. You will lead a committed pastoral team and be part of a strong, collaborative wider pastoral structure, contributing to a culture of high expectations and inclusive support. Key Responsibilities Manage all aspects of pastoral care and behaviour, in addition elements of attendance, and student welfare for a designated Key Stage Line manage and support pastoral staff, including Assistant Pastoral Leads and Intervention Leads Drive high standards of behaviour, engagement, and attendance through effective systems and interventions Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead Lead on serious behaviour incidents, ensuring appropriate investigation, intervention, and follow-up Monitor and analyse student data to identify trends and implement targeted support strategies Work closely with families, external agencies, and stakeholders to support students with additional needs Contribute to whole-school pastoral strategy, policies, and continuous improvement Qualifications and Experience Significant experience in a pastoral leadership role within a secondary school Proven track record of improving student behaviour, attendance, and outcomes A commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for disadvantaged students Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing staff Excellent understanding of safeguarding, student wellbeing, and inclusive practice Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues Desirable Qualities Experience working with vulnerable students and complex family situations Knowledge of restorative approaches and trauma-informed practice Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment A reflective practitioner committed to ongoing professional development
