Head of Psychology

South Bromsgrove High is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and inspirational Head of Psychology to provide leadership and management of our A level Psychology provision. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practitioner to lead a successful and growing subject area, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning and excellent outcomes for students. A level Psychology is one of the school’s most popular subjects, currently taught across two classes in both Year 12 and Year 13. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and a clear vision for A level Psychology Secure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment Lead on curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning, including lesson drop-ins and book looks Analyse assessment and performance data to inform improvement Lead teachers of Psychology and support professional development Maintain schemes of work, assessment processes and departmental documentation Contribute to whole-school priorities The Successful Candidate Will Be a highly effective classroom teacher of Psychology Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy Have the ability to lead, motivate and support colleagues Use assessment data effectively to raise achievement Be committed to continuous professional development
