The Department The English Department at Uxbridge High School is committed to providing a strong and rigorous foundation at Key Stage 3 that prepares students effectively for GCSE study at Key Stage 4. The curriculum is carefully designed to expose pupils to challenging, high‑quality texts that develop key knowledge and skills over time, including the study of Renaissance drama and Shakespeare to build early literary familiarity and cultural understanding The Position We are seeking an ambitious and dedicated Assistant Curriculum Leader of English to join our successful, inclusive, and supportive department. This is a key middle leadership role, supporting the Curriculum Leader in raising achievement, developing curriculum intent and implementation, and strengthening teaching and learning across the department. You will work closely with the Curriculum Leader to support staff development, assessment, and the delivery of a challenging and ambitious English curriculum. The successful candidate will also have a teaching commitment across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. However, leadership responsibilities will be the main focus of the role. This post is primarily for an Assistant Curriculum Leader. However, we are also open to appointing an outstanding Teacher of English (including Early Career Teachers) if a suitable leadership candidate is not appointed.
