About the role

East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (East SILC) is a large and highly regarded 2-19 generic special school supporting approximately 470 pupils with a wide range of complex needs. The school operates across a number of sites and delivers several city wide services, including the Physical Difficulties and Medical Service and the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds. East SILC is a complex and dynamic organisation, known for its inclusive ethos, strong partnerships and commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Do you want to join a team that truly makes a difference to children and young people’s lives? An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Behaviour Support Worker to join the Behaviour Team at East SILC. We are seeking a skilled, calm and positive practitioner with experience of working with vulnerable pupils with complex behavioural and communication needs, who can contribute positively to a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment. Working closely with the Behaviour Team and class staff, the role will include: Supporting learners in class and across school settings Delivering targeted interventions to individuals and small groups Supporting the delivery of behaviour support strategies, including Team Teach Contributing to training and supporting systems and processes across sites, under the direction of the Lead Behaviour Support Worker You will be a strong communicator who can build trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families, and who embodies the values of East SILC through kindness, integrity, ambition and collective responsibility. The successful candidate will be based initially at the Roger Cannon or Jack Clark site, but may be required to work across other East SILC sites in line with organisational need. The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children or young people with SEND and behaviours that challenge (primary or secondary experience desirable) Be calm, resilient and emotionally attuned, with a strong understanding of de escalation and relational approaches Be committed to promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and a sense of belonging for all learners Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Be willing to undertake and support behaviour related training, including Team Teach Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) Have GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics What we offer East SILC offers an extensive range of opportunities and benefits.
