About the role

Science Technician Required as soon as possible 37 hours per week (term time + one week) Β£23,562 to Β£23,940 actual annual salary (Point 8-9 Essex Scale 4) Southchurch High School are seeking to appoint a Science Technician. As Science Technician you will be working with the Head of Science to support an effective Science curriculum. You will be responsible for the provision of technical support for the Science department to allow teaching staff to deliver the Science curriculum and whole school and departmental initiatives. You will support the Head of Science ensuring Science laboratories are maintained in a safe and clean working order and compliant with current Health and Safety/CoSHH legislation. You will be responsible for bringing your passion and expertise to the following areas: Provision of full technical support to the Science department, with particular regard to the preparation and clearing of lesson materials and maintenance and repairs of equipment. Ensuring the efficient preparation and organisation of equipment for lessons as required. Cleaning equipment and laboratories after each lesson and any chemical spillage that may occur. Ensuring safe storage of laboratory equipment. Ensuring the correct storage and distribution of chemicals. Supporting teachers in the setting up of equipment. Person specification Knowledge of COSHH and CLEAPSS (desirable) to maintain compliance with H&S Regulations. A level standard Science qualification. Team-worker with ability to build effective working relationships with staff and pupils. Excellent communication and organisational skills. IT Literate. Quick to learn, flexible and able to work effectively using own initiative. We can offer: An extensive programme of relevant CPD for all staff.
