The Aylesbury Vale Academy ยท Aylesbury, South East
We are a highly supportive school with strong subject and senior leadership to help you develop. We are looking for a highly ambitious, committed and dynamic professional to join our MFL department; someone who is passionate about their subject, communicates well with young people and makes a positive impact on their learning. The MFL department comprises of 4 full-time teachers as well as 1 part-time, including a Curriculum Leader. We work collaboratively to support each other both with the demands of our work and our wellbeing. Being an all-through school, we also teach French and Spanish from KS2 which allows us to have a well-rounded view of the curriculum. The MFL department offers a broad and ambitious curriculum where we offer an enriching experience in French and Spanish at KS3, paving the way for an exciting journey into KS4. The decision to offer French and Spanish at KS4 is about cultivating a community of dedicated learners who breathe life into our language program. Opting for languages at KS4 results in smaller, closely-knit cohorts, providing an opportunity for personalised support from teachers and nurturing a genuine passion for language excellence. The most recent GCSE results saw students making good progress (SPI of 0.28 in Spanish and 0.37 in French) and attainment is in line with National trends for non-selective schools in similar areas. The successful applicant will be an individual who embodies a genuine passion for learning, possesses robust interpersonal skills, demonstrates resilience, excels as a teacher, and boasts exceptional subject knowledge, including a track record of delivering Spanish GCSE. While not mandatory, an added advantage would be an interest and proficiency in teaching French at KS3 and KS2 level. Our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children will be reflected throughout the recruitment process and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and an online screening check. Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible as the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint an appropriate candidate.
