You will be leading a Visual Arts Department which is a highly creative and engaging space where we strive to instil an enthusiasm for arts at the heart of our curriculum. We are looking for a candidate who is willing to lead its ongoing development, the fantastic existing team of specialists and our creative students. The department is staffed with experienced specialists, a highly skilled Art Technician and equipped with three spacious art classrooms, a textile classroom, and a dedicated Sixth Form studio, providing a dynamic learning environment. Students benefit from access to specialist facilities including two kilns, a traditional printing press, as well as screen-printing equipment shared across disciplines. Enrichment opportunities are central to the ethos of the school and department, with teachers contributing to these experiences to nurture and expand students’ creative mindsets beyond the classroom. Within easy reach of London galleries and museums, we organise regular trips and guest workshops as well as engaging in community outreach projects and we are looking for a candidate who will bult on and expand these. Art & Design and Textiles are popular subjects at both GCSE and A-Level, with many of our students progressing to leading Arts universities where they continue to pursue careers in the creative industries. Students’ work is also regularly entered in a range of national competitions. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and knowledgeable leader, experienced being part of leading a Visual Arts team (as a second in charge, or subject leader within). We place a strong emphasis on the development of students’ character and embed the teaching of virtues throughout our curriculum.
