A unique opportunity has arisen to join a passionate team of staff at The Birchwood Nest, located within Birchwood Primary School, part of the growing Community Academies Trust. The Birchwood Nest is a Specialist Resource provision based on our school site, supporting the communication and language needs of our children. The Governors of Birchwood Primary School are seeking an experienced Level 2 Teaching assistant to work within The Specialist Resource Provision, joining a highly motivated and successful team of knowledgeable staff. Birchwood Primary School is a highly regarded and thriving institution. It is a wonderful place to teach and provides an inspirational environment for pupils. We are fortunate to have over 450 enthusiastic, energetic, and well-behaved children who demonstrate excellent learning behaviours and enjoy coming to school. They are fiercely loyal to their school and highly supportive. Birchwood takes pride in our fantastic reputation and strong relationships with our community. As a member of our staff, the post holder would become part of the Birchwood Nest team and be responsible for supporting children with an Education and Health Care Plan to ensure they achieve their best and promote their independence. The post will have a role to support children within the wider school community primarily during the afternoons. We value our committed staff at all levels, who, as a team, have a significant impact on outcomes for all our pupils. The teachers, highly praised by our Trust for their teaching and commitment, are a professional and hardworking team who are excellently supported by our invaluable Teaching Assistants. Our Lunchtime Supervisors, Site Management, and Administration teams are highly valued and share our determination to drive forward progress. Together, we form a fantastic team that develops, supports, and guides each other to ensure that we achieve the very best for our school community. We are proud to be a Fair Workload School and value the well-being of all our stakeholders. The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in a TA2 role within a primary or Specialist school and will be aware of the challenges that children with complex needs can face. The role will entail undertaking work with children with complex special needs who have cognition and learning needs requiring support with learning. Working under the direction of the specialist and class teacher, they will work to support access to learning in the classroom, in line with the requirements of the Education and Health Care Plan. Birchwood is part of the Community Academies Trust, a multi-academy trust with the express purpose of transforming schools in community hubs, through applying a holistic view of education.
