Year Lead - St Matthew's Church of England Primary and Nursery Academy Place of work: St Matthews CofE Primary & Nursery Academy, Peregrine Rd, Derriford, Plymouth, PL6 5FN Posts: Year Lead Job Term: Permanent, Full Time (Part Time will be considered for the right candidate) Closing date: 9am on 13th May 2026 Interviews: Thursday21st May 2026 Grade: MPS/UPS - accelerated progression up the pay spine could be offered for successful candidates Start date: September 2026 We are seeking ambitious and talented teachers to take on the role of Year Lead within Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 as we continue to develop our school. This exciting opportunity would suit teachers with several years of classroom and subject leadership experience who are ready to take the next step in their professional journey. The role offers an excellent platform for developing leadership skills, and previous colleagues who have held this position have gone on to senior leadership roles. At St Matthew’s we aspire to be a light in the heart of our community, providing an ambitious curriculum and rich experiences that nurture curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning. As we move into our second decade, we are looking for committed leaders who will help shape the next stage of the school’s development. Our priorities include: Developing an exciting STEM offer, building partnerships with local businesses and organisations Continuing to strengthen our ambitious curriculum, ensuring pupils develop deep knowledge and understanding Increasing opportunities for pupils to experience and celebrate cultural diversity Ensuring every child feels inspired, supported and challenged to achieve their best The Year Lead role sits within our extended leadership structure. Year Leads work closely with teachers and teaching assistants in their year group to support high-quality teaching, strong organisation and a positive team culture, while also engaging with parents and the wider community.
