About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic,

highly motivated and dedicated teacher, to lead our vocational learning

area covering Child Development and Health & Social Care. This very popular

area needs a leader with a passion and love for vocational learning, joining our

team in order to shape the next generation of health and social care

professionals.

With a well-resourced department

that is a popular at Key Stage 4, you and one other team member, will deliver

engaging and meaningful lessons to pupils for their Key Stage 4 qualification -

OCR Cambridge Nationals. You will help them understand the importance of care,

health, and wellbeing in society and how to make a positive impact on people’s

lives. You will support pupils in developing key skills in empathy, communication,

critical thinking, and professionalism.

Have excellent subject knowledge

Be willing to teach across the full age range of

pupils; year 7 to year 11

Enhance the quality of teaching and learning

in the department and wider school through sharing resources and good

practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active

participation in continuing professional studies programme

Teach a standard timetable

allocation with leadership allowance

Lead the efficient running of the curriculum

area, including, setting and marking examinations, leading departmental

meetings and undertaking administrative and other tasks, delegating as

appropriate

Actively

safeguard and promote the welfare of children

Support

the schools’ aims and objectives for teaching and learning

Adhere

to and promote all school policies and procedures

Person Specification:

Good degree in a directly

related subject (desirable) Thorough knowledge of the (11-16)

subject Curriculum up to GCSE Recognised teaching

qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience Awareness of Safeguarding

requirements and good practice Good level of IT literacy Be capable of delivering

inspirational and informative lessons to the full age and ability range of

pupils at the school Be able to demonstrate a

positive and authoritative rapport with pupils Excellent and effective

classroom management skills Have excellent communication

skills to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors Be organised and

self-motivated, with a proven record for meeting targets and deadlines A good sense o
