About the role

St Hilary School, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, is nestled just outside Penzance and Marazion in a beautiful rural setting, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our positive, forward‑thinking team. This is a wonderful opportunity to play a key role in a nurturing school community where inclusion, equity, excellence and evolution guide everything we do. As a Teaching Assistant at St Hilary, you will take a proactive role in supporting pupils’ educational, social and physical development. Working closely with class teachers and our skilled SEN team, you will help create a learning environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive. Your work will include assisting with classroom activities, providing targeted support for individuals and small groups, and helping pupils with additional needs to access learning confidently and safely. You will contribute to the smooth running of the classroom by preparing resources, supporting behaviour routines, and helping to maintain a calm, purposeful atmosphere. Breaktime and lunchtime duties form an important part of the role, where you will encourage positive play, inclusion and social development. You may also accompany pupils on educational visits, assist with basic first aid (if trained), and support children with personal care needs when required. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, adaptable and committed to helping children flourish. In return, you will join a supportive staff team who value collaboration, professional growth and innovative practice. At St Hilary School, you will have the chance to make a meaningful difference every day. About You: You’re the kind of person who brings positive energy and enthusiasm into work everyday -enthusiastic, caring and genuinely passionate about helping children flourish. You believe every child deserves to feel included, valued and capable, and you’re excited to be part of a school where inclusion, equity, excellence and evolution aren’t just words on a wall, but values lived every day. You build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and adults alike, and you bring patience, positivity and a sense of humour to even the busiest school days. Whether you’re supporting learning, guiding small groups, or helping a child overcome a challenge, you do it with kindness, empathy and a calm, steady presence. You’re flexible, creative and ready to roll up your sleeves. You work well as part of a team, follow school procedures confidently, and stay discreet and professional at all times. You understand the importance of safeguarding, equality and inclusive practice, and you’re committed to giving every child the chance to shine. Above all, you’re a champion for children - someone who sees their potential, celebrates their successes and helps them grow into confident, curious learners.
