Required As Soon As Possible Cover Supervisors (two positions available) Are you confident, adaptable and passionate about supporting students in their learning? We are currently looking for a flexible and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our team, providing cover for absent teaching staff for both planned and unplanned absences. You may already have some experience in delivering learning activities to students and may have some experience of working in schools. The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, and will be able to liaise confidently with staff, students and parents, as a positive and committed member of the Cover Team. Hampton College employs Cover Supervisors to cover for absent teaching staff, which is successful in terms of consistency and managing student behaviour. You will cover for both planned absences, e.g. staff on training courses, and unplanned staff absences, e.g. sickness; and you may also be required to invigilate during examinations. All long-term absences, e.g. Maternity Leave, will be covered by qualified teaching staff. Where you’re not required to cover, you will undertake additional tasks at the discretion of your line manager, therefore a flexible approach and a can-do attitude are essential requirements of the role. Candidates should be adaptable to able to respond to changes in working practices, with a willingness to respond to reasonable requests that go beyond normal routines, when required. What You’ll Be Doing Supervising classes during short-term teacher absence, following pre-set work. Supporting students to access learning and stay on task. Liaising with teaching staff and using available information to meet individual student needs. Contributing to behaviour management using positive strategies. Recording attendance and behaviour information on Bromcom. Providing feedback to teachers on student engagement and progress. Supporting individual students and small groups with intervention activities. Assisting departments with resource preparation and administrative tasks. Invigilating exams as required. Participating in staff training, meetings, and school events. We’re looking for someone who is Experienced in working with young people, ideally in a school setting. Confident in managing classroom behaviour and gaining student respect. Organised, adaptable, and able to work independently. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and ICT skills. Committed to safeguarding and confidentiality. Willing to undertake First Aid training and other relevant CPD. Positive, flexible, and enthusiastic about supporting students. Working Hours 32.5 hours per week, term time only plus attendance at statutory training 8:15am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break.
