About the role

West Ashton Church of England (V.A.) Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join its vibrant team and provide support to pupils, starting as soon as possible.  Working Hours: Part time (29 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 38 weeks per year, no Teacher Training days).  Located in the beautiful village of West Ashton, just outside the county town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, we are an ambitious and friendly school, educating children between the ages of 3 and 11 years. Our school community works together to develop our vision and Christian values (hope, wisdom, agape, friendship, thankfulness and koinonia), which are at the heart of our school and underpin all we do. Our goal is to give each pupil a thirst for learning, which continues with them throughout their life. In November 2023, we received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in all areas and were praised for being a fully inclusive school where everyone is respectful and demonstrate positive attitudes to learning. We are part of Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.

As a Teaching Assistant, you must be able to work across all age ranges within our school and be prepared to work flexibly to support children of all abilities, including those requiring SEN support, liaising with teachers and SENCO.

We are looking for someone who:

Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children;

Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;

Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;

Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;

Enjoys working with children and can develop good working relationships with them;

Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;

Can be a strong team player as well as use your own initiative;

Has a positive and flexible attitude.

Has experience of supporting children’s learning.
