Widewell Primary Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work under the direction of the SENCO and HLTA, providing high-quality, bespoke support to pupils with SEND, particularly within targeted provision. The role is varied, rewarding, and central to our mission of ensuring every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small group supportto pupils with SEND across the school Deliver structured academic, social, and emotional interventions Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour, promoting inclusion and positive relationships Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupils’ needs Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals Monitor and record pupils’ progress and contribute to reviews and meetings Support learning both in and outside the classroom, including off-site provision when required Promote and embed the school’s ethos and values in all aspects of your work We are looking for someone who: Has experience working in a primary school, ideally with pupils with SEND Is a positive, caring team player with strong emotional intelligence Can build effective relationships with pupils, staff, and families Has excellent communication skills and a proactive approach Is committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding Holds (or is working towards) an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, with GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) Training or experience in SEND-specific interventions, trauma-informed practice, ELSA, Forest School, or outdoor learning would be an advantage.
