About the role

Monk’s Walk School and Bishop Hatfield Girls’ School are seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker to work collaboratively across both schools. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils and their families. In this vital role, you will support families to help remove barriers to learning and ensure that pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs are able to thrive both in school and beyond. You will work closely with school staff, families, and external agencies to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and valued. Key responsibilities include: Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to identify and address barriers to learning and attendance Providing early help and targeted support to children and families Working collaboratively with staff and external professionals to ensure coordinated support Identifying safeguarding concerns and following agreed reporting procedures About you: Experience working with children and families, with the ability to assess and respond to their needs Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, young people, and parents/carers A strong understanding of safeguarding and the ability to act promptly and appropriately A proactive, compassionate, and resilient approach Access to a car and the ability to travel between school sites in Hertfordshire This position is 28 hours per week over 4 days , with flexibility in working days and hours.
