About the role We are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join our team. The key purpose of the job is to facilitate high quality learning within the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, as well as to assist with general administrative duties. This post will require the post holder to cover lessons and /or registration time for absent colleagues. When covering lessons, the post holder is expected to: Arrive promptly at the classroom. To supervise classes whose normal timetabled teacher is absent, which involves taking sole charge of a group of pupils. Delivering and explaining the work set to students. Responding to any questions relevant to the work set. Ensuring that the students have the materials they need to carry out the tasks set for them Ensure a positive working atmosphere is maintained and that the work is productive Facilitate and encourage learning which helps all students achieve their potential. NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience. University degree or FE qualifications. Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Understanding a variety of positive behaviour management. Good literacy and numeracy skills as well as ICT skills. Good communication and inter-personal skills, courteous and politeness. Ability to represent and celebrate the values, culture and ethos of the school. Ability to relate well to students, be an effective role model
