As a Geography Teacher at our school, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and potentially Key Stage 5, contributing to the overall success of the department and the school. About the Geography Department The department has a strong and collaborative team atmosphere. We work closely together to support and enhance each other's practice while sharing expertise. At Key Stage 3, students follow a varied and vibrant dynamic syllabus which helps them to develop and deepen their knowledge and understanding of the world around them and gets students to ‘think like a geographer’. They develop a broad range of skills through the study of diverse topics, often supported by global case studies and fieldwork opportunities. Geography is a popular and successful choice at Key Stage 4 with over two hundred and fifty students studying it for GCSE. In recent years, approximately half of students have achieved grades 7-9 following the AQA syllabus. A Level Geography, using the AQA syllabus, typically has an uptake comprising two classes. 92% of our A Level students have achieved grades A*-C over the last three years. The department has developed significant expertise in the NEA component of the course. Extra-curricular activities and fieldwork trips are an integral part of the department's ethos. We offer an annual visit to Iceland, alongside a week-long residential field course that is a regular feature in the A Level curriculum. Applications from ECT’s are welcome.
