About the role

We are seeking an ambitious and inspiring Second in English to support the leadership and development of a successful English department within our secondary school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in driving high standards of teaching and learning.

Working closely with the Head of English, you will contribute to curriculum planning, staff development, and raising student attainment.

Key Responsibilities:-

Support the Head of English in leading and managing the department

Deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge students

Help drive improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment

Lead on specific areas of the curriculum

Mentor and support colleagues, including Early Career Teachers (ECTs)

Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement

Contribute to departmental planning, resources, and enrichment activities

About You:-

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

A degree in English or a related subject

Proven track record of strong teaching and student outcomes

Experience or readiness to take on a leadership role

Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

A commitment to high expectations and inclusive education
