We
are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Upper
Key Stage 2 team, working with pupils in Years 5 and 6. As an Upper KS2
Teaching Assistant at Clapgate, you will play a key role in supporting pupils
as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. Working closely with
class teachers, you will help deliver high-quality learning experiences,
support whole-class teaching, and provide targeted support through individual
and small group interventions.
The
successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of the curriculum up to the
end of Key Stage 2, including an understanding of SATs expectations. You will
be confident in supporting and delivering interventions in reading, writing,
and mathematics, helping pupils to make strong progress and reach their full
potential. A willingness to contribute to outdoor learning opportunities and
wider school life is essential, along with the flexibility to cover classes in
the absence of the class teacher when required.
This
role is ideal for someone who is committed, proactive, and passionate about
supporting older primary pupils both academically and personally as they
approach the next stage of their education.

Key
Responsibilities:
Support the class teacher in
delivering high-quality teaching and learning across Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5
and 6). Work with individuals and small
groups to reinforce learning, close gaps, and promote independence in reading,
writing, and mathematics. Deliver targeted interventions,
including preparation for SATs, to support pupils in reaching expected and
greater depth standards. Help maintain a purposeful,
engaging, and well-organised learning environment that supports high standards
of behaviour and achievement. Promote pupils’ communication,
reasoning, and problem-solving skills through effective questioning and
high-quality interactions. Support pupils’ personal,
social, and emotional development, modelling positive behaviour and attitudes
to learning. Observe and monitor pupil
progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and contributing to
assessment and next steps. Prepare and organise learning
resources to support high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum. Contribute to wider school
life, including enrichment opportunities and outdoor learning where
appropriate. Provide classroom cover in the
absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning. Work collaboratively with the
Upper Key Stage 2 team to support planning, delivery, and reflective practice. Safeguard and protect all
pupils, following school policies and reporting any concerns promptly and
appropriately.
