Cove School is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover
Supervisor who will be responsible for classes during short term absence of a
class teacher. This is not a teaching position but the Cover Supervisor role is
to ensure the learning tasks set by the teacher are completed and that good
behaviour is maintained throughout lessons. Cover work will be supplied for you
to use as a basis for the lessons.
This role is a superb opportunity
for anyone with an interest in developing a career in teaching who wishes to
develop their experience in a classroom environment. Training will be provided
in classroom and behaviour management, and the school provides excellent
opportunities for career progression if desired. Cove School has links with
Teach First and i2i Teaching Partnership, supporting the training of between
5-10 trainees each year.
Whilst
previous experience within an education environment is desirable, it is not
essential as training will be provided. If there is a specific subject you
would like to be aligned to please note this in your application as this can be
discussed further at interview.
Key Responsibilities:
Refer to daily cover programme ensuring
classes are covered where required throughout the day Breaktime cover as required Register form groups as required Supervise the subject work that has been set
and issue appropriate direction to ensure pupils remain on task Respond to any questions from pupils and
manage the behaviour of pupils and use of resources in class Ensure pupils know if homework has been set Report back to subject teachers by written
comments or in person discussion Shadow trainee teachers where required Work within the relevant policies, code of
practice and legislation. To also be familiar with, and comply with a full
range of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety,
security and GDPR reporting any concerns to appropriate person Work collaboratively with colleagues and
external professionals to uphold school standards
Person Specification:
Good
standard of education obtaining a GCSE Grade C/4 in English and Maths or
equivalent
Strong
interpersonal and communication skills
Ability
to work collaboratively with pupils to encourage, motivate and support
them.
Excellent
organisational skills and ability to use initiative
Previous
experience of working with young people in a professional environment is
desirable, but not essential
