Braunstone Frith Primary Academy is a large school on the western edge of Leicester City. Our aim is for our children to be “Positive Thinkers and Lifelong Learners”

We have a tradition of strong teamwork and clear leadership that is committed to do whatever it takes to improve pupil outcomes.

We are looking to appoint a Classroom Teacher for our DSP.

At Braunstone Frith Primary Academy we are able to offer you:

Enthusiastic and friendly children

A hard working team of people who are committed to providing the best education for our children

A school that has a strong commitment to developing its staff individually and places a strong emphasis on supporting and encouraging your continued professional development

A strong coaching ethos to develop practice

A well structured phase support system

A well resourced school

A chance to be part of shaping the future of our school

In return we are looking for someone who:

Has experience of working with children with SEND, particularly those with Autism

Loves working with children

Is enthusiastic, hardworking, highly committed and enjoys working as part of a team

Has high expectations of what all children can achieve

Can teach creatively and match learning to the needs of our children

Our DSP is very much part of the whole school community. It is fondly known as ‘Western Park’. Visits to the provision are welcomed and advised before applying. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the way the provision is run and the curriculum the children receive.

The ethos of the DSP mirrors that of the mainstream school – we believe that all pupils can become ‘Positive Thinkers and Lifelong Learners’. Through this we aim to:

Make learning fun and make the most of our fantastic space and resources

Expect our children to try their hardest and achieve their best

Connect learning in an exciting way

Meet the needs of all learners

Work in partnership with parents, professionals and wider school community

Value and nurture the development of character

Children are taught in line with their academic ability, with a strong focus on closing gaps and securing accelerated progress. We follow a semi-formal to formal curriculum, where Phonics/Spelling, Reading, Writing and Maths content reflects the teaching in the main school to ensure consistency and high expectations. Learning is then personalised to suit the needs of each child. Lessons are delivered in short, engaging bursts with opportunities for over-learning to support retention and confidence.

Our wider curriculum is delivered through an overarching topic (such as Ancient Egypt, Space, and Castles) using the Attention Autism approach to capture interest and engagement. Through this, pupils are able to explore Geography, History, Science, Art and Design Technology in a meaningful, conne
