Head of Music
From : August 2026
Salary : MPS/UPS + TLR2c (£3,621) Rawlins is seeking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and passionate specialist to lead our Music Department. If you are an existing or aspiring subject leader this is a tremendous opportunity to be part of a strong and established department. Our ideal candidate will be a talented musician and be able to shape the vision for an outstanding department ensuring that all our pupils are able to thrive.
Music is an exceptionally well-resourced department housed in a separate building with three teaching spaces and six practice rooms, together with a suite of PCs, a keyboard room, class set of Djembes and rock/pop hardware. Leading a team of specialist teaching and visiting instrumental staff you will have a profound impact on the quality of music education and shape the vision for an outstanding department through a highly ambitious curriculum, a vibrant co-curricular programme, and a proven record of successful outcomes and progress. GCSE Music is currently taught at KS4, but there is the possibility of developing the subject at A Level.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Leicestershire’s largest secondary schools, with over 1500 on roll including more than 300 in our A-Level specific Sixth Form. We are a highly inclusive school having our own Autism and a Moderate Learning Difficulties specialist unit on site alongside our school’s SEND support base. Pupils who attend these units are an integrated part of our school community.
There is a strong sense of community in the school, the village of Quorn and the surrounding areas with a committed and aspirational parent support base. Teamwork and making the most of every opportunity is a key feature of school life. We aim to inspire our pupils to find their talents and their passions through a broad and balanced curriculum; to be curious about learning; to relish a challenge and to have both confidence and resilience. Applications are therefore welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.
Our core purpose in helping students and staff to flourish is summed up in our vision and values:
