Christchurch Learning Centre · Christchurch, South West
Christchurch Learning Centre is seeking to appoint
an outstanding teacher to further enhance our ability to deliver English to
GCSE level, commencing the Autumn term 2026.
Christchurch Learning Centre is a growing maintained
Pupil Referral Unit that offers support and educational packages for those
pupils that are unable to sustain a place at a mainstream school. The Centre works in partnership with a number
of schools and outside agencies with a goal to returning pupils back to their
mainstream setting, where appropriate.
Pupils study a full range of National Curriculum subjects to GCSE level,
in addition to an adapted PE and PSHE curriculum.
Applicants need to be experienced in working with
children with SEMH and SEND, they need to be flexible and adaptable as
timetables and support can change at short notice to address the needs of the
pupils. All staff participate in pastoral
responsibilities and wider school strategies of support. The position can be demanding but extremely
rewarding for an able, motivated and experienced teacher. This is a challenging and exciting
opportunity for a qualified teacher to work in a PRU as part of a committed
team, helping to develop the learning, behaviour and social skills of young
people in BCP. Successful applicants
will be delivering English predominantly at all levels up to GCSE, to pupils
with a range of needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties at KS3
& 4. Further training will be offered as required.
The successful applicant will be required to produce
appropriate planning and track pupil progress against national
expectations. Strong organisation, class
and behaviour management skills are essential.
They will support pupils in the Centre predominantly, but may be
required to teach at other approved venues as directed by senior leaders. Applicants will therefore require a full
driving license and a suitably insured vehicle.
The Centre values the diversity of our workforce and
welcomes applicants from all sectors of the community. The Centre is also committed to safeguarding
and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment
which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to
have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the
Government safer recruitment guidelines.
