To deliver

high-quality teaching and learning across both the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

and Key Stage 1, ensuring

continuity, progression, and positive outcomes for all pupils.

Promote early reading, writing, and maths skills across both

phases

Create a stimulating learning environment in both settings

Planning and

Curriculum

Plan in line with the EYFS framework and KS1 National Curriculum

Work collaboratively with EYFS and Year 2 team members to ensure

consistency

Ensure smooth progression for pupils transitioning from EYFS to

KS1

Assessment and

Progress

Observe, assess, and track pupil progress in both EYFS and Year 2

Use assessment data to inform planning and next steps

Contribute to reports and parent consultations

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records

Management and Behaviour

Establish clear expectations and routines in both classes

Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development

Promote independence and resilience

Safeguarding and

Welfare

Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils

Ensure a safe, secure, and inclusive learning environment

Collaboration and

Communication

Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff

Liaise effectively with parents/carers across both classes

Attend relevant staff meetings and briefings (pro rata as

Ensure effective handover and communication with job-share

partners or class teachers

Specification

Essential

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching in EYFS and/or Key Stage 1

Strong understanding of both EYFS and KS1 curriculum requirements

Ability to adapt teaching across different age groups

Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable

Experience teaching in both EYFS and Year 2

Knowledge of phonics programmes (e.g. Read Write Inc. or similar)
