About the role

Teacher of Science (Chemistry preferred, but other sciences considered) Maternity Fixed Term Contract September 2026 to August 2027 TMS/UPS The Trust Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust has a vacancy for a maternity cover with a start date of September 2026 for a Teacher of Science (Chemistry is preferred but other sciences will be considered). There are currently two schools within the Trust, Kenilworth School and Sixth Form and The Westwood Academy, Coventry. The role will be based at Kenilworth School and Sixth Form. The maternity contract will commence September 2026 to August 2027. Kenilworth School and Sixth Form’s latest Ofsted report of November 2023 rates the school as Outstanding in all five areas, maintaining our Outstanding status from the Ofsted inspection of 2013.The school is well resourced to support the delivery of the subject. The post holder will join a supportive team with opportunities for professional development. Our educational ethos encourages our students to be responsive, resilient, to have reasoning, be reflective and resourceful in their learning. The Science Department: The successful candidate would be joining a thriving department where all Science staff work for and support each other; a unified team of experienced specialists who are whole-heartedly passionate and enthusiastic about developing our students’ love for science. We are a team of 18 highly driven, dedicated, supportive and passionate Science teachers supported by 4 skilled Science technicians. We are proud to provide students with skills that prepare them for their future, whilst broadening their understanding of the scientific world and developing each as a well-rounded individual. Our department comprises of 16 new Science laboratories, 3 prep rooms and a science staff base. Student opportunities in science: We have an animal club with 4 corn snakes, and we participate in various national and regional competitions including the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Olympiad, The Faraday Challenge and The National Scientific Thinking Challenge. Other examples of recent trips include The Big Bang Fair, New Scientist Live, Christmas lectures, Warwick University Science in Action Lectures, and Operation Ouch! Live and a Year 12 residential visit to Portugal. Science curriculum: Our Science curriculum intent is driven by the whole school intent and is both ambitious and innovative, inspiring all students to excellence. From the beginning of year 7 our students follow a progression model based upon the whole learning journey. Science lessons are exciting, thought-provoking, differentiated and inclusive, where we aim to create a sense of awe and wonder.
