St Catherine's CofE Primary School · Bolton, North West
LPS L8 – 12 (£61,534 - £67,898) 1.0 FTE PERMANENT CONTRACT REQUIRED SEPTEMBER 2026 We are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for an inspiring and dedicated leader to join our school as Deputy Headteacher. This position has become available following the retirement of our much-valued Deputy, who has served the school with commitment and distinction for 25 years. This role offers a rare opportunity to work alongside an experienced headteacher and play a key role in shaping the next phase of the school’s development. St Catherine’s is a stable, thriving school with a strong and committed staff team and a highly supportive community. As a Christian school, our values underpin everything we do. Visitors consistently comment on the tranquil environment, and the genuine respect and love that are evident throughout the school. We are proud to be a place filled with happy people, busy classrooms and caring friendships. St Catherine’s is a place of laughter, wonder and lasting memories — a family where, together, we flourish. We place great importance on personal development and are passionate about providing rich opportunities beyond the classroom. Through trips, experiences and a wide range of enrichment, we nurture lively, confident and articulate children who move on to fulfilling lives, built upon strong foundations and Christian values. As a result of our emphasis on personal development and wellbeing, our behaviour and attendance are also strong. We are seeking a leader who will continue to build on these strengths while also focusing on progress for all. We are looking for someone who is aspirational for themselves and for our children — someone who may be looking to progress to headship within the next few years and is ready to step into a highly strategic deputy role with genuine scope to shape the future direction of the school. This role would suit an experienced member of a senior leadership team or a current Deputy Headteacher seeking broader experience in preparation for headship. The successful candidate will be an all-rounder: equally confident across phases, a strategic thinker who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, and above all, someone who is passionate about teaching and learning. This role will take strategic responsibility for the quality of education, leading teaching and learning, curriculum development and staff development across the school. We are looking for a leader who still loves teaching and can model excellent practice, who works well with others but is also not afraid to offer challenge when needed. This is a non-class-based role with a teaching commitment of approximately two days per week. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, and we have arranged the following dates and times: Tuesday 14 th April from 10.30am & Tuesday 21 st April from 10.30am If you would like to come and visit
