About this Role Post: Pastoral Manager/Cover Supervisor Location: Salisbury Academy for Inspirational Learners (SAIL), Salisbury, Wiltshire FTE Salary Range: £34,434.00 to £36,363.00 Actual Salary Range: Grade I. £30,642.00 to 32,359.00 Actual Annual Salary, Pro Rata Hours/Contract Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term-time) About the role As a member of our school team at SAIL, you will: Assist in the support and inclusion of children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and difficulties, either in groups or 1:1 work Support pupils’ academic and social communication needs Support positive social and emotional wellbeing, enabling pupils to engage in learning in and out of the school environment What we’re looking for The Pastoral Manager (& cover) will assist the senior pastoral manager: In the day-to-day implementation of pastoral care for all pupils across the school. In providing advice and guidance to staff in implementing behaviour strategies, Thrive principles and restorative approaches. In coaching and upskilling staff in relational practices, modelling connection‑based approaches, co‑regulation and high-quality relational language. In being an active part of the school’s ‘on call’ system, providing on-the-ground pastoral and behaviour support to prevent escalation and maintain a safe, calm school environment. In supporting lesson cover as required, acting as a cover supervisor to maintain learning, behaviour expectations and safety during staff absence (e.g., sickness). About the School SAIL (Salisbury Academy for Inspiration Learners) is a day specialist provider of education in Salisbury, Wiltshire for children and young people aged from 5 to 16 years who have a diagnosis of Autism or an SEMH profile. We are a growing school which opened in September 2023 and currently have around 125 students. Our aim is to build safe, independent lives for the Autistic and SEMH population through a process of understanding, support, and enablement. We personalise each child’s curriculum, care, and therapeutic package to support them to achieve and experience success and independence.
