About North Halifax Grammar School North Halifax Grammar School (NHGS) is a co-ed, state-funded grammar school with c1200 students (11-18 years), established in 1959 and operated under an Academy Trust since 2011. Located within Illingworth on the outskirts of Halifax, Calderdale. Students sit entrance tests and come from approximately 90 primary schools. The ideal candidate would be able to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, and teach KS5 either immediately or in the near future and would be keen to work at the highest level of secondary school Art. Successful applicants will be supported through their ECT process (if appropriate) with a dedicated mentor, in-school training and a supportive department to help them develop into a highly effective practitioner. All students study Art & Design in KS3 with a balanced curriculum that develops creativity, practical skills, and an understanding of artists, craftspeople and designers from a range of cultures and traditions, while preparing students for further academic study. GCSE Art & Design is a popular choice at KS4 following the Eduqas GCSE Art & Design specification. This wide-ranging course develops key artistic skills and techniques before allowing students to pursue their own creative interests through increasingly independent and personal projects. The learning journey continues at KS5 with Eduqas A Level Art, Craft & Design - a broad course which offers students the opportunity to specialise in a range of Art, Craft & Design disciplines.
