The Roseland Academy Β· Truro, South West
The Roseland Community Farm is a unique and fantastic resource which plays a key part in the daily life of
our school. An Animal Care Assistant is required to work on our small school farm. Our animals need to be cared for
365 days a year and the post-holder needs to be reliable, trustworthy and conscientious. During term time,
Monday to Friday, the care of our animals is covered by our Animal Care Teaching Practitioner and an
Animal Care Technician. During weekends, school and bank holidays you will be required to share the responsibility for the care of
our animals with our current Animal Care Technician. This role will be for every other weekend and some
school holidays, including some bank holidays. The total number of hours you will be required each year is
approximately 190 hours (2 hours each day worked) and payment for bank holidays will be double time.
The hours are arranged on a rota which is agreed in advance. Tasks will include duties such as feeding, cleaning out animal pens and cages and caring for animals and
produce. This role will also involve working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions so a flexible
approach is necessary with regard to duties. Your holidays will be covered by school staff.
