Job title HLTA Contract: 32.5 hrs per week, Term Time plus 5 days Salary Scale: Scale 5, Pts 12-15 (£28,598 -£31,022) FTE Actual Pro-Rata: £21,578 - £23,407 Interview date: 20th July 2026 (proposed date) Start date: September 2026 What does a HLTA Teaching Assistant do? In a nutshell, you will be working closely with an individual pupil or groups of pupils to provide dedicated support, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and participate in school life. Your role is about more than just academic help; it is about building a secure, trusting relationship that empowers the children. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare and deliver a specific range of learning activities for individual and groups or whole classes that is appropriate to the children’s educational, intellectual, social, emotional, cultural and physical needs. Ensure that learning activities are conducted in a positive atmosphere, pupil contributions are recognised and supported and planned learning objectives are achieved. Support and assist pupils with social integration, advice on strategies to deal with problems and encourage pupils to work cooperatively with others and engage in learning activities. Monitor and assess individual and groups of pupil performance against agreed educational, intellectual, social, emotional, cultural and physical objectives, record and report achievement and provide the necessary help, advice and information and guidance to support development.
