ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of English to lead our dynamic English department at Trinity Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and committed English specialist to shape the future of English education, inspire a love for literature and language, and drive outstanding student outcomes. As Head of English, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a knowledge-rich curriculum, ensuring all students have access to high-quality English education. You will lead and support a team of dedicated English teachers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the department. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. • Implement a rigorous, knowledge-rich English curriculum across all key stages. • Inspire and support students to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of literature, language, and communication. • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of English teachers to enhance pedagogical expertise and student outcomes. • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement across all key stages. • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to promote English education within the wider school community. THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE: • A strong academic record, ideally with a 2:1 degree or above in an English-related subject. • A deep passion for English, with expertise in literature and/or language. • Proven leadership experience or a clear vision for leading and developing an outstanding English department. • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students. • A commitment to high standards and a drive to raise achievement in English. • An unwavering belief in the power of education to transform lives, in line with our trust’s motto, libertas per cultum (freedom through education).
