Teaching Assistant Level 1

St Michael’s RC Primary School are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 1). This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at the beginning of a journey of transition, development, and growth within the multi-academy trust. Working mainly, but not exclusively, with a child with SEN the postholder will support the child to thrive and develop within the school environment. Working alongside the teaching and support staff the postholder will take a full part in the life of the school. Lunchtime cover will also be a responsibility of this role. We are seeking an individual who:

Has experience of working with children in a paid/voluntary capacity

Is calm and compassionate with the sensitivity to work with children with Special Educational Needs and their parents/carers

Is a team player, understands classroom roles and responsibilities and will support whole-school activity

Understands how to keep children safe and can deal calmly and effectively with accidents, emergencies and illness

Can contribute to the development of children’s communication, as well as physical, emotional and social needs

Will encourage and support children’s rights and choices in play, enabling creativity and offering a range of opportunities

Promote positive behaviour, implement agreed behaviour management strategies and support children in taking responsibility for their own learning and behaviour
