Wootton Academy Trust · Bedford
We are seeking an inspirational teacher committed to high academic standards who can communicate to young people an enthusiasm for Geography. We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Geography teacher to join a dynamic and supportive department. The post is permanent, full-time or part time and would be suitable for either an ECT or an experienced teacher. The successful candidate would be expected to have a passion for learning and teaching, together with the skills to inspire and motivate our students to achieve the very best they can and is dedicated to their own professional development. It is an essential part of our students’ knowledge-rich curriculum. At Key Stage 3 they have 2 lessons a week and cover in depth the most powerful and important concepts in the subject. This is so that they finish Year 9 empowered to better understand the world around them even if they don’t pick the subject at GCSE. That said, Geography is incredibly popular at Key stage 4. More students choose it as an option than any other subject - much to the disappointment of the History department. We tend to have 5 or 6 GCSE classes in each of Years 10 and 11, and growing numbers opt for it when picking A-levels. The Geography team is known for its commitment to academic excellence and pastoral care. The curriculum has been carefully, informed by the science of learning so that students have the best chance of mastering and savouring what is covered. Lessons are designed to be rigorous and thought-provoking, helping students develop an academic and intellectual framework to better understand the role and impact of geography on society and culture. Our Geography colleagues work closely with other humanities staff to share best practice and support one another to ensure students experience a coherent curriculum packed full of powerful knowledge and the best that has been thought and said. If you believe in the life changing potential of a great Geography curriculum and want to work somewhere disruption-free, where the subject is valued, teachers can teach, and students are keen to learn, then Wootton Academy could be the place for you. We become a full secondary school this year and need more teachers who love the subject to join the team. Whether you are at an early stage in your career or further along and looking for a fresh challenge, teaching at Wootton provides a great opportunity to use your expertise and passion to make a difference to the next generation of geographers! Applicants must possess graduate subject knowledge and have high expectations. The ability to teach up to Year 11 GCSE and offer a second subject, would be desirable. Closing Date: Wednesday 8 July 2026. Please apply at the earliest opportunity. We reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive applications from outstanding candidates. Applicants must complete the Trust’s application form via My New Term- we cannot accept CVs. When applying, please complete a
