We are looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with previous experience. An ideal candidate would have a passion for working with children with SEN or additional needs or with previous experience of working with children in upper key stage 2.
Purpose
of the job
To provide practical assistance to the line
manager in the school catering for the personal welfare and education needs of
pupils with the emphasis on supporting and delivering learning within a
nurturing environment. To ensure a safe
working environment for staff and pupils using a restorative approach where
appropriate or necessary. To contribute
to facilitating pupil access to the education system, promote inclusion, assess
and support achievement and monitor progress towards school objectives. To support pupils on the special educational
needs register as required. To take
responsibility for managing different initiatives and delivery to groups and or
whole classes.
Main duties
Personal
Welfare
1. To
provide personal care and assistance for all pupils who require such support,
including break and lunch times as appropriate.
2. To know and apply school policies on Child
Protection, Safeguarding and Behaviour.
3. To
attend to minor accidents at school and supervise unwell children, where
appropriate training has been given.
4. To
know and apply de-escalation techniques.
Support
5. To support and motivate pupils to stay on
task and complete work in a focused way.
6. To
support pupils communication needs.
7. To
encourage positive behaviour for all pupils in class.
8. To
promote pupils’ social and emotional development
9. To
support pupils in physical activities (PE, drama) as required.
10. To
organise and take part in school activities and events as required,
accompanying and supporting children on outings as necessary.
11. To
provide additional nurture to individuals when requested by the class teacher
or SENDCo / Inclusion Leader
Teaching
& Learning
12. To
prepare and assist in the preparation of the classroom, resources, equipment
and computers for use by pupils.
13. To
ensure equipment/materials are suitable for learning activities, and prepare,
design and adapt materials where necessary.
14. To
assist the teacher to supervise and support pupils’ SEND Action Plans,
assisting with work programmes, written observations and records on pupils’
progress.
15. To
work on specific activities under the guidance of the teacher or other lead
person, to small groups and or whole classes.
16. Assist
the classroom teacher in the planning and delivery of class activities.
17. To
support the teaching of Literacy and mathematics curriculum by delivering
strategies to individuals and or small groups.
